A MAN who was seen in the video allegedly firing at police during a confrontation at a Calgary bar has been arrested, police said.
The footage posted to YouTube shows a man who appears to be the shooter firing shots at police at the Regency Tavern, located in the city’s west end.
The video was shared by a group calling itself “the Resistance” that describes itself as a group that is “not affiliated with the police force”.
The group posted the video on Twitter last night.
Calgary police said the video shows the man firing shots, but said the circumstances of the incident were unclear.
“We are currently looking into it,” Calgary Police Service (CPS) Insp.
Dan Fergus said in a statement.
The group that shared the video said it was not affiliated with any police force and called the video “disturbing”.
“We were trying to put a positive spin on this situation, but the situation quickly turned violent,” the video says.
“It was just a misunderstanding between people.”
Police have released a composite sketch of a man seen in a video in the Regent Tavern on Dec. 14, 2017, in Calgary.
(Facebook) The man in the footage has been identified as a 19-year-old male from Calgary.
Police said he was arrested without incident and is facing a number of charges, including firing a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and breaching probation.
Police did not release the name of the man who fired at the officers.
