In response, the Republican candidate issued a statement to the Times saying, “I never asked for or received the special treatment and I have never shared any content that was offensive to anyone.
I have also never shared content that I found to be untrue.”
Donald Trump has a history of controversial tweets.
He was also once accused of making false claims in a tweet that he claimed was directed at former President Barack Obama.
In May, the White House confirmed that Trump was under investigation by the Office of Special Counsel for allegedly violating federal law by failing to pay taxes on income from a company that was a beneficiary of his tax-exempt status.
The new reports of the investigations came as Trump was campaigning in South Carolina, the site of his South Carolina primary victory on March 1.
