By Robert ParlarThe past few weeks have been a whirlwind for conservative media, as the site of a contentious Supreme Court nomination battle that culminated in the resignation of a justice who was the chief architect of the “bully pulpit” culture that has been part of conservative media for years.
In response, the site’s founder, Stephen Bannon, has been trying to change that culture and has promised a more conservative agenda.
But there’s no question that social media has given Breitbart News, and other conservative media outlets, a powerful new platform to disseminate its views.
This year, it’s become the most-visited site on Facebook and Twitter, according to a BuzzFeed News analysis.
The site’s social media reach grew from 6 million in February to 16 million in June.
Breitbart News has more than 4.5 million daily active users.
It has more followers than CNN, MSNBC, and The Daily Caller combined.
It also has more advertisers than most news sites.
In June, Breitbart News had an audience of 1.2 million, according the data site comScore.
It reached the 1 million mark last week, according at the time to comScore, making it the most popular conservative news site.
“We’ve never had this much of an audience before,” said David A. Bossie, who heads up the company’s digital advertising division.
“This is the biggest audience we’ve had.
It’s going to change everything for us.”
Bannon has also promised to make Breitbart News more politically savvy, according and Bannon has been touting Breitbart News’s platform to advertisers.
Breitbart has long been a target of the Democratic Party.
A 2016 article by Politico titled “The Republican Establishment: Bannon, Bannon, and the Fight Over the Internet” reported that Bannon was frustrated with the media’s refusal to focus on the party’s failures and blamed Democrats for failing to embrace Breitbart’s platform.
In a May 2016 interview with BuzzFeed News, Bannon said he was “absolutely” willing to work with Democrats on a national level to help them defeat President Donald Trump.
“I’ve been involved in politics in the past for eight years, and I know a thing or two about the establishment of the media,” he said.
“They’ve been very, very bad at telling you what’s going on, and they’ll do whatever they can to keep you from getting what you want.
And I think they’re going to do something to us on the Internet.”
Bannon is also working to reshape Breitbart News into a more populist and less partisan publication.
Bannon, who is married to Rebekah Mercer, the daughter of a hedge fund billionaire, is also looking to make it more accessible to young people and minorities.
The Breitbart News platform, for example, has a list of topics like health care, taxes, and immigration.
Bannon has said he plans to open a site dedicated to education and health care.
But he has also been pushing to make a lot of money off Breitbart News.
The company has spent more than $7 million on advertising on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter in the last year, according as data by comScore and media research firm ComScore.
Breitbart’s most prominent advertiser is the conservative radio network Rush Limbaugh, whose show Breitbart News Daily has been airing on the network since 2009.
Other advertisers include conservative politicians, former President Donald Trumps son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos.
Bannon also has worked to create a more diverse Breitbart News audience.
The conservative news website has partnered with the conservative advocacy group America First Policies, which was formed by Bannon in order to further Bannon’s agenda of attacking progressive policies in the country.
Bannon and America First Policy have said they plan to spend more than a million dollars on the ad campaign, according BuzzFeed News.
Bannon’s other advertisers include Fox News, which has endorsed Bannon in recent months.
“It’s not that I’m going to ignore you, I’m just going to be very specific,” Bannon told BuzzFeed News in a June interview.
“America First Policies will not be part of the future of Breitbart News.”
A spokesperson for the White House declined to comment for this story.
“As we move forward, we will continue to take a hard look at the way the news media operates, and will ensure that we are in alignment with our principles, which include a commitment to free speech and the right to privacy,” said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Breitbart also has partnered up with the libertarian-leaning political site Breitbart News (Bannon’s former employer), which is the only other media outlet that has endorsed Trump in the election.
“Breitbart News is a place for all people of all backgrounds, including those who disagree with our political views,” a spokesperson for Breitbart News told BuzzFeed.
“The Trump campaign has shown a complete disregard for the fact that a large portion of the American people do not share our political beliefs.
